"Two layers of asphalt roofing were removed. Three sheets of roof decking and some fascia boards near the chimney were replaced due to water damage. A metal flashing system was custom built and soldered in place around our chimney to properly divert water. We had mold and water damage in a finished area of our garage. Winter was on its way and I wanted the roof fixed quickly.

"We had the old roof torn off and a new roof installed.

"We are satisfied with the work done. Vince's estimate was very complete an included ways to ensure adequate ventilation in the attic in the most cost-effective manner. He also included some structural improvements to the roof that need to be done that other contractors did not include in their bids. (We were unaware beforehand that the work was needed.) Of the 3 contractors we called for estimates, Home Street and one other had the higher bids, but Home Street's included more work for the money. The work was completed quickly in 2 days for the roofing, and Vince finished up the final work on the third day. His crew was relatively quiet (roofing is a noisy job), polite, and left the worksite clean each night."

Specifically, he (1) inspected the roof, (2) took exemplar photographs of every defect found, (3) demonstrated and photographed the proper way to nail two-ply shingles, (4) annotated every photograph with comments explaining the defects, (5) met with me to review the photographs and explain every defect found, (6) provide applicable GAF specifications for each defect, which explained and illustrated the correct installation method, (7) gave me an actual shingle to show me the nail line, and (8) provided a signed letter stating Home Street's opinion on the quality of the roof and providing Home Street's recommendation for corrective action. . . based on Vince's report, I am currently in the process of pursuing corrective action with the original installers."
